Hotel Phillips' Artist in Residence
The Arts have a major influence on the livelihood of any community, but downtown Kansas City has an especially vibrant arts community. Being located in the epicenter of local creativity, we embrace and support those people and organizations who are building our city’s reputation as one of the most brilliant stars on the Arts horizon. The Hotel Phillips was proud to accept the prestigious ArtsKC Impact Award this year, and is proud to name our third annual Artist in Residence, Ahram Park. You can find his works on display throughout the hotel, and in 12 Baltimore. Please ask the front desk about tours to local art galleries and visiting Ahram’s hotel studio.
Ahram Park is a photographer born in Pusan, Republic of Korea. He graduated in 2010 from Kansas State University with a B.S. degree in economics. He has exhibited at several distinguished local and national institutions including the Bemis Center in Omaha, Dolphin Gallery, Los Caminos, Spray Booth Gallery, 1522 Saint Louis, while he currently manages Bill Brady KC.
What inspires your work?
“I have a need to engage myself visually with a thing I can't name, but it has to do with where I came from, where I grew up, and who I am.”
What do you hope people will take away from your work?
“I want to make work that tells plainly of the mysteries I still find in the world, while also laying bare its secrets.”
